GoFrogs: Baseball’s Win Streak Reaches Four

FORT WORTH – TCU made a fourth inning run stand up in a 2-1 victory over Kansas State Friday night to guarantee the series victory. The Horned Frogs have won four straight, including three consecutive one-run victories.

The Rundown
Another solid effort out of the bullpen helped the Frogs hold on for the win. Preston Guillory (3-2) tossed 3 2/3 scoreless innings, allowing two hits while walking one and striking out three. Durbin Feltman struck out two in a perfect ninth for his sixth save of the season.

Mitchell Traver started for TCU and came up with pitches when he needed them. He got a double play ball to end the first, then worked out of a pair of bases-loaded jams in the second and third innings.

K-State’s lone run of the game on a one-out bases loaded walk in the second. A hit batter and two straight hits loaded the bases with nobody out. After issuing the walk, Traver retired the next two batters he faced to end the inning.

TCU immediately responded to the deficit, tying the game in the bottom of the second. Josh Watson led off the frame with a double and moved to third on a long fly ball to right. Connor Wanhanen’s ground out to short tied the game at one.

The Frogs utilized another lead-off double, this one from Luken Baker, to take the lead in the fourth. Watson followed Baker’s double with a base hit to put runners on the corners. Dane Steinhagen bounced into a double play, but Baker was able to score to make it a 2-1 game.

Kansas State threatened in the fifth with the bases loaded and one out, but Guillory induced another double play to end the inning. The Wildcats managed just two more base runners the rest of the game.
