GoFrogs: TCU Tops Stephen F. Austin, 3-2

Final Stats

FORT WORTH – TCU took an early lead on a Dane Steinhagen home run and the pitching quartet of Dalton Horton, Preston Guillory, Ryan Burnett and Brian Trieglaffmade it stand up in a 3-2 win over Stephen F. Austin Tuesday night.

The Rundown
Dalton Horton (8-0) turned in a solid performance on the mound, limiting the Lumberjacks to two runs (one earned) on three hits in 5 2/3 innings. The bullpen retired all 10 batters they faced to help the Horned Frogs secure the victory.

Luken Baker opened the second inning with a base hit up the middle. Two batters later, Steinhagen launched his seventh home run of the season over the left center fence to put the Frogs up 2-0.

Stephen F. Austin cut the lead in half in the top of the third. A lead-off walk eventually came around to score on a sacrifice bunt.

TCU wasted little time restoring its two-run lead, picking up a run with two outs in the third. Evan Skoug was plunked with two outs and came around to score on a double from Elliott Barzilli.

SFA once again closed the gap with a run in the sixth. The Lumberjacks got a lead-off single from Matthew Dickey, who eventually scored on a two-out double from Connor Fikes. With the tying run 90 feet away, TCU went to the bullpen. Preston Guillory got a ground ball to end the frame with the lead intact.

Guillory sat down all six batters he faced. Burnett struck out the only batter he faced and Trieglaff fanned two in a 1-2-3 ninth inning to earn his third save of the season.
