GoFrogs: TCU Announces Bane Monday

FORT WORTH, Texas – TCU head coach Jamie Dixon announced the addition of Desmond Bane Monday afternoon.

Bane will don the Purple and White next season after starring at Seton Catholic High School in Indiana. The 6-foot-5 guard, who plays AAU ball for Indiana Elite, averaged 30.0 points, 11.5 rebounds, 6.1 assists and 3.2 blocks per game during his senior season en route to leading the Cardinals to a 23-4 overall record and a regional appearance. Since 2013, Bane, who had a career-high 62-point outing his senior season, has tallied a double-double, averaging 24.9 points per game and 10.6 rebounds, while scoring over 1,900 points during his prep career. He guided Seton Catholic to three sectional championships and was named Most Outstanding Player at the prestigious Bob Wettig Tournament after shooting 84 percent from three.

The all-time leading scorer in Wayne County boys basketball history was a Supreme-15 selection by the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association, while also being named a Mr. Basketball candidate in Indiana. Bane, an Indianapolis Star Indiana All-Star and all-state selection by the Associate Press, earned All-USA Indiana First-Team honors in 2015-16 and was named the IndyStar Fan’s Choice Male Athlete of the Year. He was also an All-Area Player of the Year and was recently named a North/South Indiana All-Star Classic selection. Bane, who earned all-conference accolades, claimed multiple weekly and monthly awards, while finishing second in the IHSAA in scoring during his senior season. He was also third overall in rebounds and posted the top three-point field goal percentage at 54 percent from long distance. Bane received interest from programs such as Northwestern, Purdue, Rutgers, Texas Tech and Xavier.
