FORT WORTH, Texas – A dominant doubles performance followed by near perfect singles play propelled the No. 4 TCU men’s tennis team to a 4-0 victory over No. 36 LSU in the NCAA Division I Men’s Tennis Team Championship Round of 32 at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.

With the victory over the Tigers (15-12), the Horned Frogs (26-3) advance to the Sweet 16 at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa Okla., next Friday for the second straight season and 10th time in program history.

TCU opened doubles play by going up multiple breaks on all three courts. Trevor Johnson and Guillermo Nuñez finished first with a 6-1 downing of Justin Butsch and Tam Trinh, before the No. 65 pair of Hudson Blake and Reese Stalder finished off the No. 6 duo of Jordan Daigle and Boris Arias, 6-0. The win marked the second top-10 victory for the TCU pair this season.

The Frogs scored first set wins on all six courts to start singles action with No. 5 Cameron Norrie notching his 17th victory this season over a ranked opponent by topping No. 44 Daigle, 6-2, 6-2, to put TCU up 2-0. Jerry Lopez would score for the second straight day with the junior picking up his 26th win of the season with a 6-4, 6-4 victory on court four. Johnson clinched the match from court six, as the captain downed Nikola Samardzic, 6-3, 7-5, to finish off the sweep and move TCU into the Sweet 16.

Quotes of the Match
Head Coach David Roditi
“We came out of the gates strong. We were up a break in every doubles match right away. Hudson (Blake) and Reese (Stalder) beat their second top-10 team, which is remarkable considering where Hudson came from three to four years ago. We all knew that Reese was a great player, but for a freshman to be doing what he is doing is remarkable. Cameron Norrie has matured so much and as a coach we couldn’t be asking more from him. That is where he needed to improve and he is just so business-like out there and I am really happy for him and proud of him. He is leading this team along with some of the other guys but he is doing a great job.

“Winning the first set on every court after winning the doubles point at home and after the match they had yesterday meant that we needed to capitalize on them being a little bit emotionally fatigued and we jumped on them and kept it going. I am proud of them.Eduardo Nava was about to win which means he was playing well. We need to fix a couple of things between now and Friday. There are key parts of our lineup that we need to address and fix. If we are going to win our Round of 16 match, we are going to need every single member of our team. Right now, we don’t have every single person on our team competing and playing. Some of our teammates are just being selfish. We have to fix that and be ready for the Sweet 16. I am just happy to go undefeated at home. I am just thankful for our crowds, our fans and all our supporters out there because it just makes me really proud.”
