Tulsa World: The Big 12 isn’t what it used to be

The NFL draft was further proof that Baylor and TCU are winning because of talent and the Big 12 Conference is not matching the elite leagues in pro-level players.

Of the top 100 players picked in the draft, just nine came from the Big 12.

The Big 12 had 26 players taken in this year’s NFL draft, which finished a three-day run on Saturday. That tied the league for last among the power five conferences (with the ACC). The Southeastern Conference, as expected, led the way with 51 drafted players.

It is just more ammo for Big 12 critics that believe the league is not as good as it was as recently as seven years ago, when the conference was the envy of everyone in college football on draft night. …
