FORT WORTH – No. 6 TCU saw its ninth-inning rally come up short in a 3-1 loss to No. 10 Texas Tech Sunday afternoon at Lupton Stadium.

The Rundown
TCU had the games’ first opportunity to crack the scoreboard in the first. Austen Wade worked a lead-off walk and Cam Warner doubled off the wall to put two in scoring position. Texas Texas pitched out of the jam, leaving the bases loaded.

The Red Raiders capitalized on their first chance to get on the board in the third. A lead-off walk followed by a double had two on with nobody out. Hunter Hargrove grounded out to give the Red Raiders a 1-0 lead. Two batters later, Eric Gutierrez hit a sacrifice fly to make it a 2-0 game.

Texas Tech added another run in the fifth. With runners on the corners and two out, a wild pitch allowed Tech’s third run of the game to score.

TCU cracked the scoreboard in the sixth. Elliott Barzilli led off the frame with a double. On a ball in the dirt, Barzilli took third and he scored easily when the catcher’s throw down to third sailed into left field.

In the ninth, tried to rally with two outs. Connor Wanhanen worked a walk and moved to third on a pinch-hit double off the bat of Ryan Merrill to put the tying run on second, but the Red Raiders third pitcher of the inning got a fly out to end the game.

Sean Wymer and Durbin Feltman pitched 4 1/3 scoreless innings in relief of Rex Hill(2-3).
