FWST: TCU turns to closer early to beat Dallas Baptist, bad weather

DALLAS – All of a sudden, the seventh inning became a closing situation for TCU freshman Durbin Feltman.

Called in to pitch after a one-hour, 32-minute lightning delay, the right-hander got a strikeout and a ground ball to finish the inning and complete a 2-0 victory Tuesday night for the Horned Frogs at Dallas Baptist.

With runners at first and second and one out, Feltman struck out Matt Duce and got a fielder’s choice to short from Tim Millard on nine pitches.

Minutes later, a lightning strike prompted the umpires to pull the teams off the field and call the game a final.

“Interesting spot,” TCU coach Jim Schlossnagle said of Durbin’s appearance, following three delays. The game was close to resuming twice only for lightning to appear, mandating another 30-minute wait between strikes. …
