GoFrogs: W. Golf Receives NCAA Regional Bid

INDIANAPOLIS — The No. 27 TCU women’s golf team received an at-large bid Monday and will make its 20th NCAA postseason appearance in the last 21 years.

The Horned Frogs will begin play May 5 in the Bryan, Texas, Regional at the Traditions Club. TCU last played the course in its 2014-15 season opener, finishing in a tie for seventh at the Texas A&M “Mo”Morial.

This is the second year of a new format with four 18-school regionals. Previously, there were three regional sites with 24 teams each.

The top six teams at each of the four regional sites advance to the NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Championship May 20-25 in Eugene, Ore. TCU has reached the NCAA Championship in four of the last nine seasons.

TCU is seeded seventh in the Bryan Regional. Joining the Horned Frogs in the 18-team regional, by order of seeding, are UCLA, Georgia, Arizona, Kent State, Furman, Texas A&M, Texas, SMU, Louisville, Miami (Fla.), Tulane, Campbell, Indiana, Texas State, Delaware, Lamar and Quinnipiac.

The Horned Frogs have posted eight top-10 results in nine tournaments this season. TCU was third at the Big 12 Championship and posted runner-up finishes at the Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invitational, Golfweek Conference Challenge and Notre Dame Clover Cup.
