FWST: TCU catcher Skoug, with 5 RBIs against OU, named Big 12 player of the week

TCU catcher Evan Skoug, who drove in five runs in the first game of a series sweep against Oklahoma last week, was named the Big 12 player of the week by the conference office Monday.

It is his first such honor and the fourth by a TCU player this season.

Skoug, a sophomore from Libertyville, Ill., who ranks sixth in the country in doubles, was 6-for-10 with a home run, a double and six RBIs in four games last week. He homered and doubled in a 4-for-4 performance that included a career-high five runs batted in during an 11-3 victory against Oklahoma on Friday, triggering a sweep by TCU. …
