The Rundown
Austen Wade set the tone early with a lead-off single in the first. After a stolen base and a ground out, Evan Skoug lined a sacrifice fly to left to put the Horned Frogs up 1-0.
Back-to-back singles from Elliott Barzilli and Josh Watson had the Frogs in business in the second. The duo executed a double steal to put two in scoring position. Connor Wanhanen grounded out and Dane Steinhagen singled to make it a 3-0 contest.
The lead grew to five in the third as two more runs came around to score. With two outs, the Frogs strung together three straight hits.Luken Baker’s base hit was misplayed in left allowing Wade to score from first. Barzilli followed with a base hit to drive in Baker for a 5-0 lead.
Oklahoma picked up an unearned run in the fourth. A bases-loaded, two-out single from Alex Wise drove in the first run of the game for the Sooners. Wade made sure that was all they would get as he threw out the runner at home to end the inning.
Wade lead off the fifth with his first career home run. Three batters later, Baker lined a single through the drawn-in infield to make it an 8-1 game. A lead-off double in the sixth from the Sooners’ Austin O’Brien came around to score on a one-out single from Steele Walker.
TCU added a run in the sixth on a Wade single. Three more runs crossed the plate in the seventh to make it a 10-run ballgame. Baker collected his third RBI of the game with a double. Michael Landestoy added a sacrifice fly and a Ryan Johnson base hit ended the game.
Dalton Horton improved to 6-0 on the season. He allowed two runs (one earned) on seven hits in six innings of work.
