GoFrogs: Beach VB Drops Match to No. 1 USC
FORT WORTH, Texas -Â The TCU beach volleyball team wrapped up its final home match of the 2016 season by dropping a 5-0 decision to top ranked USC on Saturday afternoon at the TCU Beach Volleyball Courts in the final match of the Cowtown Classic.
The Horned Frogs (16-6) and the Trojans (23-2) went to battle in the last match on Saturday, with USC taking five of the six matches in straight sets. TCU ended its final home weekend of the season with a 2-1 record.
In the only match that went three sets, the duo of Clare Ford and Bridget Odmark paired up for the first time this season and went point-for-point with Emily Young and Becca Dunn in the exhibition match. The USC pair took the opening set 21-12, but Odmark and Ford fought back to take the next set, 21-15. The Trojan teams got out to an early lead and never looked back as they took the final set, 15-7.

“We got what we expected – a very well trained, a very well coached and just a very experienced team and program. We went out and they made us earn every single point. What we talked about was that when that ball is in play, we had to put 100 percent effort and we just had to let the chips fall where they did and just go for it. We can’t control what they are going to do with their serve and we can’t control what they are going to do with their attacking, but we can control our output to contact those balls and our attacks. They were going to get some kills and we got some kills too. They just got a few more kills than us today.”
