FORT WORTH – Dallas Baptist broke a 1-1 tie with an eight-run seventh inning en route to a 9-1 victory over TCU on Tuesday night at Lupton Stadium. Evan Skoug led the Horned Frogs with two hits.

The Rundown
The Frogs jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the second. Back-to-back walks to Luken Bakerand Elliott Barzilli had the Frogs in business to open the frame. With one out and a full count on the batter, both runners were on the move. The throw to third to sailed into left field allowing Baker to score to give the Frogs the lead.

Dallas Baptist battled back to tie the game at one in the fourth. Three hits around a strikeout loaded the bases with one out. Daniel Sweet drew a full-count walk to drive in the tying run. Rex Hill left the bases loaded with back-to-back strikeouts.

The duo of Hill and Jared Janczak left the bases loaded in the fifth inning. DBU had two on and two out in the frame. The strategy to intentionally walk the Patriots leading hitter paid off as Janczak got a ground ball to end the frame.

Disaster struck in the seventh as the first nine batters reached. Four hit batters contributed to the eight-run inning. David Martinelli’s three-run home run put DBU on top. A two-run double from Daniel Sweet and another three run home run from Garrett Wolforth did the remainder of the damage.

TCU had base runners in all but two innings, but couldn’t get a ball to fall in for a hit. The Frogs stranded nine runners in the game.

Rex Hill started for the Frogs and tossed 4 1/3 innings. He allowed a run on six hits, walked one and struck out four. Ryan Burnett (1-1) took the loss in relief.
