Topeka Capital-Journal: Kansas baseball falls to No. 6 TCU
LAWRENCE — In the rubber match of Kansas’ home-opening Big 12 series against No. 6 TCU, the Jayhawks’ pitching struggles flared up again in a 14-6 loss Sunday at Hoglund Ballpark.
Everything fell apart for KU (12-18, 2-6 Big 12) in the fifth inning, as the bullpen imploded, allowing eight runs.
“It was a tough inning, there’s no doubt about that,†Kansas coach Ritch Price said. “We got behind in the count and left some balls up.â€
TCU began its torrid stretch when Dane Steinhagen cleared the bases with a three-run double, and Ryan Merrill followed it up with a two-run homer to right center. Evan Skoug followed suit clobbering a two-run bomb of his own to right-center field. …
