FORT WORTH, Texas - The winning streaks for the No. 2 TCU men’s tennis team continued to climb, as the Horned Frogs posted a 4-0 sweep of No. 12 Oklahoma State on Sunday afternoon for the team’s 26th consecutive victory at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center and 15th straight win this season.

The Horned Frogs (20-2, 2-0 Big 12) carried their dominant doubles play from Friday into today’s showdown with the Cowboys (16-5, 0-2 Big 12) with Cameron Norrie and Alex Rybakov scoring first with a 6-1 victory on court three for the duo’s seventh straight win this season.

Trevor Johnson and Guillermo Nuñez wrapped up the doubles point for TCU with a 6-3 win on court two as the pair improved to 4-1 at the No. 2 position.

The momentum flowed into singles action, as the Frogs were able to pick up first-set wins on five of the six courts. Johnson scored his team-best eighth straight win of the season by topping Mateo Ruiz Naranjo, 6-2, 6-1, on court six. Jerry Lopez followed up with a 6-0, 6-4 victory on court five, before No. 61 Nuñez clinched the win for the second straight match with a 6-2, 6-4 downing of Tristan Meraut on court three.

Quotes of the Match
Head Coach David Roditi
Opening Statement
“Today wasn’t easy because the conditions were a little bit breezy and it got a little swirly. I was really proud of our guys that kept on fighting especially Cameron (Norrie), (Alex) Rybakov and (Eduardo) Nava. You can tell that they weren’t very comfortable with the conditions and the situation but they kept fighting and they kept hanging in there and making the best of it. That is the kind of attitude that we are going to need for the rest of the way.

“We played Oklahoma State earlier this year and they had three guys in that lineup that they didn’t have today. We didn’t get their best lineup today and at the same time, everyone can play and I didn’t want our guys to lose their focus because they knew this wasn’t their best lineup. I am proud of Trevor (Johnson) for going out there and being very business like and taking care of his match. Jerry (Lopez) took care of his match and Guillermo (Nuñez) was in a great situation to clinch. I am just proud of our guys. It was a tough week and we asked a lot of them to be playing three top 25 teams in one week. I am looking forward to having a whole week to prepare for a very gutty and competitive team at Texas. Those coaches have done a great job of getting the Longhorns to where they are at right now. They are getting the most out of their players and that is a sign of good coaching and we will be ready for that.”
