Dayton Daily News: Changeup key to Finnegan’s development as starter

It is a long way from Texas Christian University to the Major Leagues unless you’re Brandon Finnegan.
The ink on the 22-year old left-hander’s first pro contract was barely dry when he pitched in the World Series for Kansas City in 2014.
Finnegan pitched for the Horned Frogs in the College World Series in June 2014. Less than three months later he made his big-league debut with the Royals. Seven weeks later he was on the mound facing the San Francisco Giants in the World Series, becoming the first player to pitch in both world series in the same year.
The Reds acquired Finnegan, along with left-handers John Lamb and Cody Reed, from the Royals last July in the Johnny Cueto trade. …
