GoFrogs: McGuigan Breaks School Record on Day One

FORT WORTH — Freshman Fellan McGuigan shattered TCU’s hammer throw record by more than 13 feet en route to a first-place finish on day one of the TCU Invitational.

McGuigan’s mark of 201-2 (61.31m) topped Cameron Tabor’s 2014 record of 187-6 (57.15m). Both distances were met at home at the Lowdon Track and Field Complex in Fort Worth.

Junior Paola Miranda took first in the women’s hammer throw, completing the TCU sweep in the event. Miranda earned first by an effort of 189-07 (57.80m).

Freshman Justin Sanchez also had a productive day on the field for TCU. Sanchez recorded a fifth-place mark of 182-2 (55.53m) in the hammer, improving on his personal best by five meters.

The Frogs will return tomorrow, March 18, for day two of the TCU Invitational. The javelin will begin at 9 a.m., with running events beginning at 1 p.m.
