FWST: TCU to host first round WNIT game on Thursday

The TCU women will host UT Rio Grande Valley in a first round game of the 2016 Postseason Women’s NIT after accepting an invitation late Monday night.

The game will be at 7 p.m. Thursday night at Ed and Rae Schollmaier Arena.

TCU (16-14 overall, 8-10 Big 12) has already played Rio Grande Valley (19-13, 9-5 WAC) this season, claiming a 71-67 victory on Nov. 28 in Fort Worth behind 31 points from senior guard Zahna Medley.

Medley, TCU’s career leader in points, leads the team in scoring with a 16.2 average.

Rio Grande Valley is led by junior guard Shawnte’ Goff, the WAC player of the Year and a graduate of Copperas Cove High School. She averaged 15.3 points a game.

This is the third straight season that TCU will appear in the WNIT and the 14th postseason showing in the past 16 seasons.
