FWST: TCU hitter credits same old thing for .500 start, best in the Big 12

The Big 12’s leading hitter doesn’t want to change a thing.
“Stay short and stick to my routine,†TCU third baseman Elliott Barzilli said, asked what he did to hit .512 through the first 11 games. “Just not get away from my routine. Last year, I wasn’t that big on routine.â€
Whatever he’s doing, it has made the junior from Los Angeles one of the nation’s top hitters through the early part of the Division I baseball schedule. Barzilli began 16 for 21, pushing his average to .762 before a human-like 6 for 23 stretch left him at an even .500 (22 for 44) after Tuesday’s victory against UT Arlington.
But that still makes him one of the nation’s few .500 hitters. He began the week ninth in the country in batting average. …
