KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Fresh off its 67-62 upset victory over No. 7 seeded Texas Tech, No. 10 seeded TCU will continue play at the 2016 Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship versus No. 2 seeded West Virginia Thursday night at the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Mo.

Fans not able to attend the contest, which will tip at 6:00 p.m. CT, can follow it live on ESPNU with Jon Sciambi (Play-By-Play), Miles Simon (Color) and Holly Rowe (Reporter) calling the action.

The Opponent
No. 9/8 West Virginia opens the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship Thursday with a 24-7 overall record, including a 13-5 league mark after dropping Baylor in its regular-season finale, 69-58. Senior Jaysean Paige was recently named Big 12 Sixth Man of the Year, while also earning All-Big 12 Second Team accolades along with junior Devin Williams. Not to be outdone, sophomore Jevon Carter earned Big 12 All-Defensive Team honors.

On the season, Paige has carried the load, averaging 14.3 points per game and 3.6 rebounds. Williams is also in double-figures, averaging 12.7 points per contest and 9.1 boards.

The Series
West Virginia and TCU will battle for only the ninth time in program history Thursday. WVU leads the all-time series at 8-0 after sweeping the season series. A year ago, the Frogs dropped an 86-85 overtime setback in Morgantown. TCU and the Mountaineers have never met in post-season play.

News And Notes Versus West Virginia
In two games against West Virginia this season, Chauncey Collins, who scored 19 against Texas Tech Wednesday, is averaging 20 points per game, while shooting a blistering 50 percent (7-of-14) from behind the arc. In his lone contest against WVU this season, juniorKarviar Shepherd scored a season-high 18 points and only missed one free throw, going 10-of-11 (.909) in January.

For his career, Collins is averaging 13.3 points per game and 2.7 boards against West Virginia, while Shepherd has totaled 9.4 points in five games and is shooting 47 percent (15-of-32) from the field.

Other Conference Tournament Notes
• TCU has posted a 21-38 record in conference tournament games. The Frogs’ all-time records by conference tournament: Southwest Conference (1976-96: 10-20), WAC (1997-2001: 5-5), Conference USA (2002-05: 2-3), Mountain West (2006-12: 2-7) and Big 12 (2013-present: 2-3).

• TCU has reached the championship game of a conference tournament on two occasions. The first time was in the 1983 SWC Tournament, where it dropped a 62-59 decision to the Houston squad that fell to NC State in the NCAA title game. The Frogs’ last appearance came in the 1997 WAC Tournament, where they fell to a Keith Van Horn-led Utah, 89-68.

• Trent Johnson is now 14-15 in conference tournaments. Johnson led Nevada to the 2004 WAC tourney title. His 2003 Wolf Pack squad finished runner-up, as did his Stanford team at the 2008 Pac-10 tournament. Johnson’s all-time records by conference tournament: Big West (Nevada, 2000: 1-1), WAC (Nevada, 2001-04: 6-3), Pac-10 (Stanford, 2005-08: 3-4), SEC (LSU, 2009-12: 2-4) and Big 12 (2-3).

Trio Down The Stretch
Chauncey Collins, Malique Trent and Brandon Parrish have begun to score the ball at a high percentage as of late. In the last five games, the trio has combined to score 63.6 percent of TCU’s total points against Texas Tech, Baylor, K-State and Oklahoma. When broken down, Collins, Trent and Parrish have accounted for 215 of the Purple and White’s 338 total points.

Parrish Closing Strong
In the Horned Frogs’ last four wins over Texas, Tennessee, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech, Brandon Parrish is shooting 55.6 percent from the field (20-of-36), including 57.9 percent from three (11-of-19). He is averaging 14.8 points per game in the four wins and 3.8 rebounds.

In the 12 overall games won this season, Parrish, who dropped 15 versus Texas Tech Wednesday night, is shooting 54 percent from the floor and 53.7 percent from downtown.

Collins Stepping Up
Chauncey Collins has begun to make his mark as of late, scoring the basketball from all over the court. The sophomore, who scored in double-figures in 14 out of the 18 league games, which includes games of 20 twice versus West Virginia and 19 against Texas Tech at home, has hit three or more three’s in now 10 out of the 19 contests against league foes, which includes a 4-for-6 showing from three Wednesday.

In the 10 games against league foes ranked in the top-25 during the regular-season, Collins averaged 14 points per game and 2.6 assists per contest. He also shot 44 percent from behind the arc in the 10 outings.

One Game At A Time
Heading into Thursday, TCU has only had three players see action in all 32 games this season in Vladimir Brodziansky, JD Miller andBrandon Parrish. When broken down even further, Parrish is the only Frog to have started all 32 games. The junior led the Purple and White with a season-high 20 points versus No. 6 Oklahoma. He has scored in double-figures in three out of the last five games.

• TCU is 41-9 when leading at the half under head coach Trent Johnson.
• TCU will play its 14th opponent either ranked or receiving votes in its last 20 games versus No. 9 West Virginia.

• TCU won on the opening day of the tournament for a second-straight season by defeating Texas Tech Wednesday night.
