KANSAS CITY, Mo. – In a game that featured 10 ties and 11 lead changes, No. 10 seeded TCU claimed a 67-62 victory over No. 7 seeded Texas Tech Wednesday night on the opening day of the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship.

Game Rewind
With the game tied at 58-58 with a minute left to play, Chauncey Collins and the Horned Frogs took control, going up by five with 34 seconds left. The Red Raiders, who are receiving votes in both polls this week, were able to cut it to two down the stretch, but some key free throws late allowed the Frogs to win on the opening day of the tournament for a second-straight season.

On the night, Collins led TCU, who moved to 12-20 overall, with 19 points on 5-of-10 from the field, including 4-of-6 from behind the arc.Brandon Parrish followed with 15 points, while Vladimir Brodziansky recorded his second career double-double with 13 points and 10 boards. Malique Trent rounded out the Horned Frog notables, dropping 10 points and a team-high four assists.

Texas Tech (19-12) saw both Justin Gray and Zach Smith total 13 points apiece, respectively.

TCU connected on 10 three’s Wednesday en route to shooting a blistering 47.6 percent from behind the arc. In the second half alone, the Frogs went 5-of-10 from deep. The Purple and White did it with defense, blocking nine shots, which included a key block by Parrish with 4 seconds left that helped to seal the game.

The Horned Frogs advance to take on No. 2 seeded West Virginia Thursday night at 6:00 p.m. CT. The contest will be shown live on ESPNU.

Parrish put the Frogs on the board in the second half, drilling a triple to make it a three-point game at 36-33 with 16:49 on the clock. A few plays later, Brodziansky connected from deep to tie the contest at 36-36 and the Frogs were in business.

Parrish would make it a 39-36 lead from behind the arc moments later and then watched as Brodziansky cashed in two-straight at the line before Miller found pay-dirt on a flush to give TCU a 43-36 advantage midway through.

Texas Tech would continue to battle though, tying the game at 45-45 before Trent scored an old fashioned three-point play at the 10-minute mark to regain the lead. The Red Raiders would come back to take a one-point lead at 52-51 with 6:23 left in the contest, but TCU would have nothing of it.

With the score knotted at 56-56, Parrish calmly stepped to the line and drained two-straight to regain the Frog advantage before Trent connected on his second three-point play of the night to give the Frogs a 63-58 lead with 34.3 seconds left. Tech would cut it down to two moments later, but the Purple and White closed the game going 3-of-4 from the line to claim the victory.

Texas Tech jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the contest, but Parrish and Brodziansky put an end to the Tech run, scoring on consecutive trips. A few plays later, Collins would tickle the twine from deep and TCU would pull within 9-8 at the 14:07 mark.

By the time Chris Washburn scored four-straight, including a thunderous dunk at the 13:07 mark, the Purple and White had jumped all over Texas Tech at 12-11 on a 12-4 run. The two teams would go back and forth the next couple of trips, but the Red Raiders would regain the lead at 16-15 with 7:54 on the clock.

With the game knotted at 23-23, Collins knocked down a deep three to give the Purple and White a 26-23 advantage with 4:31 on the clock. The sophomore continued to sizzle a few plays later, throwing down a dunk over two defenders to increase the TCU lead to 28-25 down the stretch, but Texas Tech would score late to take a 31-30 lead into intermission.
