DMN: Why a recent loss to Texas Tech is reason for TCU to be optimistic in Big 12 tourney rematch

Reasons for optimism

1. Relatively strong finish to the season. It’s hard to say TCU ended the season well. Seriously, the Frogs lost seven straight to end the regular season. But the last game of the year was about as inspiring as you can hope for from the last-place team in the Big 12. TCU went step for step with No. 6 Oklahoma for 35 minutes before the Sooners eked ahead in the final stretch. TCU was strong in the rebound department while the underclassmen put together a strong all-around effort. TCU knows what it can do against a quality opponent and needs to replicate that against Texas Tech.

2. Neutral court. With the conference tourney in Missouri, neither Texas Tech nor TCU will have anything resembling a home-court advantage. Neither team is a basketball school so neither will likely have much of a fan base at the game. There won’t be anything to distract TCU from the task at hand of beating the in-state rival. Anything resembling a playoff environment going against TCU would be too much for the young Horned Frogs to handle. …
