The Opponent
Kansas State comes into Wednesday’s contest with a 15-14 overall record, including a 4-12 mark in league play after falling to Iowa State in its last outing, 80-61. Against the Cyclones, D.J. Johnson recorded a career-high 22 points, while also grabbing nine rebounds. Wesley Iwundu was also in double-figures, scoring 12 points on 6-of-12 from the field.

On the season, the Wildcats have been carried by Justin Edwards. The senior is averaging 12.1 points per game and 5.7 rebounds a contest. Iwundu has been just as solid, tallying 12 points per game, while shooting 48 percent from the field.

The Series
K-State leads the all-time series at 9-4 after the Wildcats dropped TCU last month. The two teams split the regular-season series a year ago with the Wildcats claiming a 58-53 win in Manhattan before the Horned Frogs held K-State to a dismal 16 percent from the field in the first half en route to a 14-point victory in Fort Worth. The final meeting in 2015 between the two schools saw TCU upend K-State, 67-65, on the opening day of the 2015 Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship.

Trent Honored By Big 12 Conference
Sophomore Malique Trent was named Phillips 66 Big 12 Men’s Basketball Newcomer of the Week Monday. Trent, who was the highest scoring newcomer in the conference last week at 20 points per game, set career-highs in points (25) and free throws made (11) and attempted (13). He shot 45.8 percent from the field for the week, including 4-of-9 (.444) from 3-point range. He also made 14-of-16 (.875) from the charity stripe, while adding five rebounds and five steals.

Duo Down The Stretch
Chauncey Collins and Malique Trent have begun to score the ball at a high percentage as of late. In the last two games, the duo has combined to score almost 60 percent of TCU’s total points against Texas Tech and Baylor. When broken down, Collins and Trent have accounted for 86 of the Purple and White’s 150 total points.

Offensive Glass Explosion
Since entering the starting lineup against Iowa State, JD Miller has made his presence known, averaging 11.3 points per game and 6.7 boards. He is also shooting 45 percent (13-of-29) from the field. What is even more impressive though is that Miller has totaled 14 boards on the offensive end in the three contests. In the last three outings, Miller is averaging 4.7 offensive boards.

Collins Stepping Up
Chauncey Collins, who had 17 versus No. 19 Baylor and a career-high 29 at Texas Tech, has begun to make his mark as of late, scoring the basketball from all over the court. The sophomore, who has scored in double-figures in 12 out of the 16 league games, which includes games of 20 twice versus West Virginia and 19 against Texas Tech at home, has hit three or more three’s in nine out of the 16 games.
