FWST: TCU graduate surprises at Cowtown Marathon

Kenya’s Kimutai Cheruiyot and Loice Kangogo earned the men’s and women’s titles, respectively, at the 38th Cowtown Marathon on Sunday, but it was a TCU graduate who emerged as a surprise finisher.

Taylor Slack, originally from Shreveport, La., but now a resident of Dallas, finished third in her first attempt at 26.2 miles.

Slack, who ran cross country in high school and recreationally as a college student in Fort Worth, covered the marathon in 3:17:37, about 24 minutes behind Kangogo (2:53:38). …
