FWST: Two big innings, Baker’s pitching helps TCU overpower Rice

Luken Baker pitched six shutout innings and hit a solo home run, leading No. 11 TCU to a 10-0 victory over Rice in a game that was called after seven innings Saturday at the Shriners Hospitals for Children College Classic in Houston.

The Frogs (5-1) put together two big innings to overwhelm the 24th-ranked Owls (3-4).

TCU scored five runs in the second and added three more in the third.

Cam Warner and Elliott Barzilli each had two hits and three RBIs. Dane Steinhagen knocked in two runs.

Baker, meanwhile, dominated Rice, giving up four hits, walking none and striking out seven.

Warner had a two-run single and Steinhagen a two-run double in the Frogs’ five-run second inning.

In the third inning, Barzilli had a two-run blast and Baker added his solo home run.

Connor Wanhanen added an RBI for TCU, which closes the tournament against Houston at 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
