FORT WORTH, Texas –Â In their first home match in over a month, the TCU women’s tennis team blanked Metroplex rival and No. 49 SMU, 7-0, on Thursday night at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center for its second victory this season over a ranked foe.
The Horned Frogs (3-2) controlled the doubles from the very first point against the previously undefeated Mustangs (7-1) and then took all six singles matches in straight sets for the team’s second sweep of the season.
Alexis Pereira and Aleksandra Zenovka gave the team two quick points with wins at the bottom of the lineup, before Marie Norrisclinched the match by defeating her second ranked opponent of the season in No. 58 Hristina Dishkova, 6-2, 6-2.
Caroline Wegner followed quickly behind with a win on court two and then Seda Arantekin and Olaya Garrido-Rivas put up the final two points to complete the sweep.

“It was a great win tonight against crosstown rival SMU. It was a bit chilly tonight and I think the girls handled it really well. There are still a lot of things that we need to improve on. We were off for two weeks, so we were a little rusty in the doubles and I thought that could have been a little better.
“Overall, the singles went really well and it was a dominant performance. It was nice to see everyone up and down the line grow in some confidence and get a 7-0 victory. I am really pumped about where we are right now because we have been training really hard. We have North Texas, UT Arlington and a couple others before we get back on the road. We are going to enjoy this home stand and try and get some more wins.”
