FORT WORTH, Texas — TCU senior All-America candidate Zahna Medley set the TCU career three-point field goals mark as TCU beat No. 17 Oklahoma State 79-65 on Saturday afternoon in the Ed and Rae Schollmaier Arena.

Medley nailed her 297th three-point field goal of her TCU career with 6:32 to go in the second quarter that gave TCU the lead for good at 29-28 and sparked a 9-0 run that helped the Frogs pull ahead and gain momentum. Medley’s record-breaking three was followed by a pair of free throws from Veja Hamilton, a basket from Destynee Hives-McCray and a jumper from Veja Hamilton to give the Frogs a 35-28 lead. TCU also led 38-30 with 1:35 left in the half off a three from Jada Butts before the Cowgirls scored the final five of the half to pull within three at 38-35.

The teams exchanged scores early in the second half before pulling even at 43-43 with 7:32 to go. TCU then went on a 14-2 run to take control, getting threes from Medley, Butts and Toree Thompson during the run.

The TCU led got to 10 late in the third on a basket from Alix at the buzzer. Oklahoma State pulled within six at 67-61 with 5:56 to go before a basket from Thompson and a pair of free throws from Hamilton. Oklahoma State answered with a basket from Martin with 5:02 left before a three-minute scoring drought by OSU allowed TCU to pull away and secure the win.

TCU (15-11, 7-8) had a season-high 13 three-point field goals, a mark that is tied for the 4th most three-point field goals in a game in program history. It tied the Big 12 Conference high for made three-point field goals in a conference game this season and one off the overall conference season high of 14. Five came from Medley during her record-setting outing while Alix and Butts each hit three in the game.

Medley finished with 20 points on the day, her third game in four outings with at least 19 points, to pace the Horned Frogs. She was one of five in double figures for TCU on the day. Alix had 17 points while Butts added 12. Hamilton and Thompson each had 10 points. Freshman post Jordan Moore flirted with a double-double thanks to eight points and 10 rebounds on the day.

Oklahoma State (19-7, 9-6) had 21 turnovers in the game and failed to get a point from its bench in the game.

QUOTE OF THE GAME
“TCU played really well,” said Oklahoma State coach Jim Littell. “Very explosive team. When they get on a roll and start shooting threes and making shots they’re very difficult to beat. It’s a tough guard for us because a lot of times they have four guards out on the floor. We just seemed we were a step behind. We got beat off the dribble all night long. Give them credit they have good players, but when you get beat off the dribble by TCU and you have to rotate, somebody is always open. When they were open they stepped up and made shots.”
