On the night, TCU, who had won two-straight over Kansas State entering Tuesday, did most of its damage off the bench, outscoring the Wildcats, 19-7. The Horned Frogs also held a 13-5 advantage in fast break points, while forcing K-State into 18 turnovers.
The two teams would open the second half going back and forth until Brandon Parrish found the bottom of the net at the 14:19 mark to make it a 42-31 contest. Miller then got into the act, scoring a tough layup a few plays later to make it a nine-point contest, but K-State answered with a three on the other end to halt the Frog attack.
TCU would cut it to 11 late in the contest following dunks from Trent and Vladimir Brodziansky with a little over 2 minutes remaining, but that was as close as the Frogs would come the rest of the way.
Kansas State jumped out to a 16-4 lead in the contest until the Purple and White made back-to-back three’s to pull within 16-11 off a 7-0 run midway through the opening half. K-State put an end to the Horned Frog run until Collins dialed one up at the 9-minute mark to make it a 26-14 game.
TCU would cut it to 26-18 following a 7-0 run in which they held K-State to a 1-for-7 showing from the field during the run, but the Wildcats would push it to 30-20 before Karviar Shepherd got open down low for a tough layup at the 3:25 mark.
Down the stretch, the Frogs would make it a seven-point ballgame, but K-State would take a 35-24 lead into intermission.
