FORT WORTH, Texas – TCU will battle Kansas State Tuesday night inside Schollmaier Arena, beginning at 7:00 p.m. CT.

The Opponent
K-State comes into Tuesday night with a 14-11 overall record, including a 3-9 mark in Big 12 play after falling in overtime to Oklahoma State, 58-55. Against the Cowboys, Justin Edwards led the way, scoring a team-high 14 points, while also grabbing 13 boards in the setback. D.J. Johnson was also in double-figures, tallying 11 points on 4-of-5 from the field.
On the season, the Wildcats have been carried by Wesley Iwundu and Edwards. Iwundu is averaging 12.4 points per game, while shooting 50 percent from the field. Edwards has totaled 11.8 points a contest and 5.7 rebounds a game.
The Series
K-State leads the all-time series at 8-4 after the Frogs won twice over the Wildcats last season. The two teams split the regular-season series a year ago with the Wildcats claiming a 58-53 win in Manhattan before the Horned Frogs held K-State to a dismal 16 percent from the field in the first half en route to a 14-point victory in Fort Worth. The last meeting between the two schools saw TCU drop K-State, 67-65, on the opening day of the 2015 Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship.
Washburn And The Wildcats
For his career, Chris Washburn is averaging 12.0 points per game and 6.3 boards a contest against K-State. He has also shot 60 percent from the field, which was aided by an 8-for-11 showing in Kansas City en route to a 16-point outing at the 2015 Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship.
In his last two contests against the Wildcats, the junior is averaging 16.5 points per game and 8.0 rebounds a contest. He is also shooting 67 percent from the field, while dishing out 2.0 assists in the two victories.
Finding His Mark
Sophomore Chauncey Collins tallied 20 points against West Virginia Saturday, marking the second-straight game against the Mountaineers that the Oklahoma City native has accomplished that feat. In the two games this season against WVU, Collins is averaging 20 points per game and 3.5 rebounds a contest. He also shot a combined 46 percent from the field and 50 percent from behind the arc in the two outings.
Parrish Pushing Ahead
Brandon Parrish led TCU in scoring against Kansas and Oklahoma State. In those two outings, the junior averaged 14 points per game, while shooting 50 percent from the field. In the Horned Frogs’ last three wins over Oklahoma State, Tennessee and Texas, Parrish is shooting 53.6 percent from the field (15-of-28), including 53 percent from three (8-of-15). He is averaging 14.7 points per game in the three wins and 3.7 rebounds.
In the 11 overall games won this season, Parrish is shooting 53 percent from the floor and 52 percent from downtown. In games lost, the junior drops to 37 percent from the field and only 35 percent from deep.
Tough At Home In League Play
Dating back to last season, TCU has won five out of its last 10 Big 12 Conference home games, having defeated Texas, Texas Tech, K-State and Oklahoma State twice. The only losses during that stretch came to No. 17 Iowa State in the regular-season home finale a year ago, versus No. 17 West Virginia, No. 7 Kansas, No. 19 Iowa State and Texas Tech last month. In the five victories, the Horned Frogs have held all five under 60 points for the game.
He’s Heating Up
Chauncey Collins has begun to make his mark as of late, scoring the basketball from all over the court. The sophomore, who has scored in double-figures in nine out of the 12 league games, which includes games of 20 twice versus West Virginia and 19 against Texas Tech, has hit three or more three’s in six out of the 12 games.
In the seven games against league foes ranked in the top-25, Collins is averaging 13.6 points per game and 2.3 assists per contest. He is also shooting 44 percent from behind the arc in the seven outings.
Guarding The Rock
TCU is 8-1 this season when holding its opponent to under 40 percent from the field with its only loss coming at West Virginia this past weekend. The Horned Frogs limited Tennessee to only 33.3 percent from the floor, including only (8-of-31) 25.8 percent from behind the arc. By defeating Oklahoma State at home, the Frogs also held their sixth opponent this season to 59 points or less.
In the last two season’s against league foes, TCU has now held seven conference opponents to under 60 points. The Frogs’ only loss during the seven games came in a 58-53 setback at K-State last January.
One Game At A Time
Heading into Tuesday, TCU has only had four players see action in all 25 games this season in Vladimir Brodziansky, JD Miller, Brandon Parrish and Michael Williams. When broken down even further, Parrish is the only Frog to have started all 25 games. The junior led the Purple and White with 13 points against Kansas and then 15 versus Oklahoma State.
