TCU in 10th Place in Puerto Rico

RIO GRANDE, P.R. — The TCU women’s golf team opened its spring season Sunday with a 299 and is in 10th place after first-round action at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic.

Sabina Pena and Brooke Graebe, two of three freshmen in the Horned Frogs’ five-player lineup, carded 74s and are tied for 31st individually.

“We are getting closer and closer to greatness,” TCU head women’s golf coach Angie Ravaioli-Larkin said. “We are learning to seize the moment and take advantage of our training.

“We saw many great shots today and have a couple of items to improve which we will work on before tomorrow’s round.”

Pena birdied her final hole on the front nine before coming back with another birdie two holes later. Graebe posted back-to-back birdies on her third and fourth holes.

Kelly McGovern had a pair of birdies en route to a 75.

Emmy Martin and Annika Clark recorded 76s. Martin birdied her opening role and two of the first three. Clark also had two birdies.
