FORT WORTH, Texas — TCU earned a season sweep of Iowa State on Saturday afternoon thanks to a 79-69 win over the Cyclones on Play4Kay Day in Ed and Rae Schollmaier Arena.

TCU (13-11, 5-8) shot 55.2 percent in the second half and converted on 11-of-12 free throws in the fourth quarter to secure their second win over Iowa State this season and third over the last two years.

Senior Veja Hamilton had 14 points and senior All-American candidate Zahna Medley had 19 points to pace the Horned Frogs, who had just nine turnovers.

Iowa State (12-12, 4-9) erased an 11-point advantage by the Frogs and took a one-point lead in the third quarter thanks to a 10-0 run, including eight points in one minute of play early in the third period, before the Frogs eventually retook the lead for good at 48-47 thanks to a basket from Veja Hamilton. The TCU press caused a turnover that resulted in a basket by AJ Alix and then Hamilton got another basket to go up 52-47 late in the third. Iowa State never got closer than three the rest of the way as TCU finally pulled away for the 10-point win.

Medley’s effort put her closer to the top of the TCU record books. She had three three-point field goals and now needs just three more to tie her for the most in program history. Medley also needs just 73 more points to tie Sandora Irvin atop the TCU career scoring list.

Freshman Jordan Moore had one of her best outings in league play, posting eight points and nine rebounds in 21 minutes of play.
