TCU men shredded by No. 10 West Virginia 73-42

No. 10 West Virginia used 11 steals to go up by 19 at halftime and closed the game with a 15-2 run to trounce TCU 73-42 on Saturday.

 

TCU (11-14, 2-10 Big 12) fell behind 11-2 as West Virginia’s press forced five turnovers in less than five minutes. The Horned Frogs never got closer than six. The Mountaineers (20-5, 9-3) led 41-22 at halftime.

 

The Frogs, again without forward Karviar Shepherd (back injury), finished with 26 turnovers and had the ball stolen 15 times.

 

Sophomore guard Chauncey Collins scored 20 of the Frogs’ 42 points, matching his career high, set against WVU in a 95-87 loss on Jan. 4.

 

“Well, for the most part we had one guy that I thought showed up and competed a little bit,” TCU coach Trent Johnson said. “It had nothing to do with his 20 points, but I thought Chauncey did as good of job defensively as he’s done all year. I thought his overall competitiveness once they made runs was encouraging.” …
