FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Day one of the Tyson Invitational is in the books, and the TCU men and women’s track & field team walked away with four season-best times in Fayetteville.

“We’re moving in the right direction,” director of track and field Darryl Anderson said. “All in all, we had a productive day.”

Bowerman Watch List selection Ronnie Baker placed second in the 60-meter dash finals with a season-best time of 6.58. The finals consisted of four athletes with the nation’s top-10 times.

“Ronnie running three races is a good thing. He wanted to get more work in, and we feel good about that,” said Anderson.

In the 60-meter hurdles, senior Brianna McGhee finished sixth in the finals after recording a time of 8.27 in the semifinals. Her time of 8.27 was one hundredth of a second shy of her school record (8.26) set in this year’s season opener.

“Every time we step on the track, we will get better. We want to be consistent and make improvements,” said Anderson.

Multiple improvements were made on Friday.

In the women’s one-mile run, junior Bailey Sullivan logged a season-best time of 5:02.67, placing fourth.

Sophomore Kevin McClanahan posted a career-best time in the 400-meter dash, clocking in at 47.55. Senior Joshua Washington followed closely at 47.76.

Freshman Kayla Heard also recorded a personal-best time in the 400-meter dash, finishing in 55.16 seconds.

“Positive things happened today. Hopefully we will feel good tomorrow and proceed to tackle the second day,” said Anderson.

The Horned Frogs will return to the track tomorrow, Feb. 13, for the second and final day of the Tyson Invitational. Action will begin at noon. Live results can be found at FlashResults, and a live stream will be available via the SEC Network+, beginning at 2:30 p.m.
