DMN: Three takeaways: What happened at halftime? TCU shakes off ugly first half, edges Oklahoma State

Here are three quick takeaways from TCU’s 63-56 win against Oklahoma State on Monday:
1. Must have been a heck of a halftime speech. TCU came out and knocked down 9 of 11 field goal attempts to start the second half — a total 180 from its brutal first half (more on that below) – which was a good enough run to catapult the Horned Frogs to a 41-36 lead heading into the 11:39 media timeout. It’s amazing what making shots will do for a team’s morale — better energy on the defensive end; players step confidently into their shot attempts. Chris Washburn, Brandon Parrish, Malique Trent and Chauncey Collins fueled the rally on both ends of the floor — examples: Washburn and Collins recorded steals that led to the tying and go-ahead buckets, respectively. Oklahoma State was outscored 29-14 in the first 10-plus minutes of the second half. Almost suddenly, the Horned Frogs became a 3-point shooting team (1 for 8 in the first half; 6 for 9 in the second). So many things started clicking, and for a few minutes, it looked as though TCU (11-13 overall, 2-9 Big 12) would separate itself.
But the Cowboys (11-13, 2-9)Â didn’t go quietly. …
