FORT WORTH, TexasBrandon Parrish and JD Miller scored 13 points apiece Saturday, but it wasn’t enough as No. 7 Kansas defeated TCU inside Schollmaier Arena, 75-56.

Game Recap
Parrish scored nine of his 13 in the second half Saturday as the Horned Frogs tried to mount a comeback midway through, but couldn’t put a sizeable enough dent into the Jayhawk attack in the period. Miller came alive in the second stanza, scoring all of his career-high 13 following the halftime break. The freshman also added five rebounds in the loss. Chauncey Collins was the only other Frog in double-figures, totaling 10 points and four rebounds.

Perry Ellis led the way for KU, tallying 23 points and 10 rebounds. Devonte’ Graham added 15 points on 6-of-10 from the field.

With the loss, TCU moved to 10-13 overall and 1-9 in Big 12 play, while the Jayhawks improved to 19-4 overall and 7-3 in league action. On Saturday, the Frogs played their seventh opponent either ranked or receiving votes in their last 10 games.

On the day, the Purple and White just couldn’t find enough answers, but did force Kansas into 14 turnovers, while holding the Jayhawks to a 6-for-22 showing from three, including holding KU to only 20 percent from beyond the arc in the second half.

The two teams would open the second going back and forth as Parrish and Miller combined to score the Frogs first nine points of the period. The freshman then ripped off four-straight at the charity stripe and TCU appeared ready to make a run midway through as Parrish found the bottom of the net on the next possession to make it a 16-point game.

With Kansas clinging to a 60-43 lead at the 8-minute mark, Collins tickled the twine from deep, while getting fouled to make it a 63-47 game at 7:10 mark. A few plays later, Miller would score on a tip-in and the Frogs had pulled within 15 with 5:42 on the clock.

That was as close as the Frogs would get the rest of the way.

Kansas jumped out to a 7-0 lead, but Malique Trent would find Chris Washburn for a thunderous dunk at the 18:05 mark to stymie the attack. A few minutes later, Parrish would bust the nets from deep to make it a 10-5 game at the 13-minute mark.

With the score 21-11 in favor of the Jayhawks midway through, Karviar Shepherd found the bottom of the net to cut it to eight, but Kansas was able to push it to 38-15 down the stretch. Vladimir Brodziansky would score five-straight points to end the half as Kansas took a 38-20 lead into intermission.

Quote of the Game
Trent Johnson
“The bottom line is the things that we can control and things that the players can control are the ability to be physical, put a body on people, block out and take care of the ball. I thought for the most part in the last week or two that we’ve done a decent job of trying to take care of the ball. But again, mentally and physically in this league, which is where we’ve had our problems day in and day out, there’s no room and there’s no place to hide.”
