GoFrogs: Men’s Track Moves to No. 7 in Rankings

The men’s team moved up three spots in the USTFCCCA rankings after January’s last meet.

FORT WORTH — The TCU men’s track and field team moved up three spots to No. 7 in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) computer rankings, it was announced today.

After debuting at No. 7 in the preseason poll, the Horned Frogs have remained in the top 10 in both rankings so far this season.

Last weekend, TCU put up solid performances at the New Mexico Invite in Albuquerque.

Bowerman Watch List selection Ronnie Baker sprinted to two first-place finishes at the meet, earning the top times in the 60 meter (6.61) and 200 meter (20.60) races. His personal-best time of 20.60 in the 200-meter race marks the second fastest time in program history, trailing only former World Champion Kim Collins (20.52, 2000). Baker also recorded his fastest 60-meter time of the season after running a 6.58 in the prelims.

Baker’s 200 meter time currently ranks second in the NCAA this season, and his 60-meter time holds the No. 4 spot in the national rankings.

The Horned Frogs return to the track on Feb. 5 as they head to College Station for the Texas A&M Team Invite.
