GoFrogs: Alumni Game Set For Saturday Afternoon

FORT WORTH – Fans will be able to get an early peek at the 2016 TCU baseball team Saturday, Feb. 13 when they host the annual alumni game. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Lupton Stadium and admission is free.

Brandon Finnegan (Cincinnati Reds) will start for the alumni and face the varsity’s Rex Hill. TCU legend Lance Brown will manage the alumni team. The varsity team will take batting practice beginning at 10:30 a.m. The alumni’s batting practice will follow at 11:10.

TCU will conduct a fan appreciation event in conjunction with the Alumni game. Just like Kid’s Days, which are every Sunday at Lupton Stadium, kids will be able to run the bases and get autographs after the game.

The 2016 alumni squad will feature 10 new faces on their roster. Tyler Alexander (Detroit), Garrett Crain, Jeremie Fagnan, Riley Ferrell (Houston), Cody Jones (Kansas City), Keaton Jones (Detroit), Preston Morrison (Chicago Cubs), Derek Odell, Trey Teakell (Detroit) and Alex Young (Arizona) will make their first appearance as Alumns.

The alumni roster boasts 17 players that are currently playing professional baseball. Along with the seven new alumns, participating will be Jason Coats (Chicago White Sox), Stefan Crichton (Baltimore), Paul Hendrix (Cleveland), Bryan Holaday (Detroit), Chad Huffman (Detroit), Andrew Mitchell (Chicago White Sox), Matt Purke (Chicago White Sox), Trevor Seidenberger (San Diego), Kyle Winkler (Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim) and Jantzen Witte (Boston).

Other familiar faces slated to play in the game include: Kyle Bacak, Ben Carruthers, Matt Curry, Sam Demel, Josh Elander, Dylan Fitzgerald, Jerome Pena, Kyle Von Tungeln and Joe Weik.

Making an appearance at the game, but not playing will also be Clint Arnold, Jake Arrieta (Chicago Cubs), Brent Barker, Tom Bates, Matt Carpenter (St. Louis), Keith Conlon, Kevin Cron (Arizona), Dillon Farish, Taylor Featherston (Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim), Josh Gardner, Paul Gerrish, Josh Gonzales, Greg Holle, Jimmy Pharr, Al Ralston, Rudy Rivera and Larry Roseborough.

The No. 11 ranked Horned Frogs are set to open their season on Friday, Feb. 19 when they host Loyola Marymount. First pitch is slated for 6:30 p.m. at Lupton Stadium.
