OCTOBER 2, 2017MATT KELLERTweetShareHolgorsen Talks TCU’s Blend Of Solid Defense, Efficient OffenseMORGANTOWN, W.Va. – TCU has found it’s typical formula for success: Pair a punishing defense with a steady, opportunistic offense and mix in solid special teams. That’s been Gary Patterson’s modus operandi over his nearly two decades in Fort Worth, and it’s what has the No. 8 Horned Frogs (4-0, 1-0 Big 12) unbeaten and sitting atop the conference with a chance to challenge for the league title. Patterson’s 4-2-5 look has allowed the fewest rushing yards per game in the league at just 94.5, while it’s giving up an average of 18.5 points per game, though Oklahoma State hit TCU up for 31.On offense, quarterback Kenny Hill has become much more systematic and productive, cutting down on miscues and turnovers while relying on a productive running game. The senior, a transfer from Texas A&M who was coached by current WVU offensive coordinator Jake Spavital in 2014, has completed 72.7 percent of his passes (85-for-117) for 965 yards and nine scores against just three interceptions.
