DMN: No Turpin, no problem? TCU’s Desmon White earns Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week honors

When KaVontae Turpin, TCU’s brilliant return man and receiver, went down with a leg injury against Iowa State, it looked as though the Frogs would lose a major weapon on special teams.

Gary Patterson said as much in last Tuesday’s press conference, noting that Turpin’s loss would affect special teams more than it would the offense.

Well, Desmon White may not be KaVontae Turpin, but he certainly performed like him against SMU on his way to winning the Big 12 Conference Co-Special Teams Player of the Week award.
