GoFrogs: TCU Golfer Named All-America Scholar

FORT WORTH, Texas – TCU men’s golf senior Giulio Castagnara has been named a Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced this week.

Castagnara, who just completed his junior season athletically, has already earned his bachelor’s degree from TCU after graduating in May with a degree in economics and a minor in business. The Pordenone, Italy, native graduated with a 3.69 cumulative GPA.

A two-time first-team Academic All-Big 12 selection, Castagnara will begin working toward his Master’s degree in supply chain management at TCU’s prestigious Neely School of Business this fall.

In addition to the national and conference academic honors, Castagnara is also TCU’s 2015-16 Dutch Meyer Male Scholar Athlete of the Year.

On the course, he played in 12 tournaments last season with five top 20 finishes and a 74.54 stroke average. In his three-year TCU career, Castagnara has played in 36 tournaments with nine top 20 finishes and four top 10 finishes.

To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar status, an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50 percent of his team’s competitive rounds, have a stroke-average under 76.0 and maintain a minimum cumulative career GPA of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.

Castagnara’s selection as an All-America Scholar is the 12th selection in the last 10 years for a TCU golfer.
