TCU coach Jim Schlossnagle said he wouldn’t be where he is without Augie Garrido, whostepped down as coach at Texas on Monday.

“I wouldn’t have the job I have if it wasn’t for a guy like him, because he elevated the game,” Schlossnagle said, speaking to reporters at the Horned Frogs’ NCAA regional watch party. “A place like TCU has invested in college baseball because places like Texas and LSU and USC and Arizona State, they set the bar.”

Garrido, 77, is the winningest coach in college baseball history, with 1,975 victories. He won three College World Series championships at Cal State Fullerton and two at Texas.
