GoFrogs: Wade and Wanhanen Earn Academic Award
FORT WORTH — TCU baseball sophomores Austen Wade and Connor Wanhanen have been named first-team CoSIDA Academic All-District 7.
Wade, who boasts a 3.69 GPA as a finance and accounting major, has solidified his spot in TCU’s everyday starting lineup. He ranks third on the team with a .328 batting average. Included in his 41 total hits on the year are 10 doubles and one home run. Wade’s nine stolen bases are tops on the squad.
Wanhanen, also a finance and accounting major, holds a 3.81 GPA. The sophomore has started 36 games this season. He’s hitting .260 with five doubles, two triples, 17 RBIs and eight stolen bases.
To be eligible for nomination, honorees have to be sophomores with a GPA over 3.30. First-team Academic All-DistrictTM honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
