GoFrogs: W. Golf in the Hunt at NCAA Regional
BRYAN, Texas – Brooke Graebe, one of four freshmen in TCU’s lineup, carded a 72 to key a strong opening round Thursday for the Horned Frogs in NCAA Women’s Golf Regional action.
TCU’s 5-over-par 293 has it tied for eighth place. The 27th-ranked Horned Frogs are just three strokes behind Miami (Fla.) for a coveted top-six finish that would earn it a trip to the NCAA Championships later this month.
“We are right in the thick of things which is where you want to be after day one,” TCU head women’s golf coach Angie Ravaioli-Larkinsaid. “I’m really proud of our grit and mental toughness today. They also had fun competing which is one of the many reasons why I love this team!”
Graebe, tied for 20th individually, had three birdies and shot par on 12 holes. Two of her birdies came in her opening six holes.
Brooke McDougald birdied two of her final four holes en route to a 73 for the Horned Frogs.
Kelly McGovern and Annika Clark added 74s for TCU. Clark finished strong with both of her birdies coming over her final three holes. McGovern also had two birdies.
