Monroe News-Star: Tech hoops assistant Corey Barker leaving for TCU

Louisiana Tech assistant basketball coach Corey Barker is leaving the program after one year with the Bulldogs to join TCU’s staff.
Barker, a Houston native, developed into a strong recruiter for Tech, helping sign four players from Texas for the 2016 signing class.
Jim Hicks of RCSsports.com first reported Barker’s departure Monday morning.
“We enjoyed him very much as a person on our staff. Upbeat, hardworking and he really had the players best interest in mind,” Tech coach Eric Konkol told The News-Star on Monday. “Anytime you hire good people they’re going to have great opportunities down the road. Our job now is just to continue to look for that next person that can fill that role and do a great job.”
The move puts Barker one step closer to eventually becoming a head coach. …
