CBS: Snider says Redskins are in the zone with Doctson

The pass was impossibly high and too deep into the end zone for Josh Doctson to catch it. And yet, the Texas Christian receiver did a 360-helicopter pulldown inside the back corner over a clinging Texas defender for a touchdown last fall.

That’s what the Redskins have been searching for many years – a tall red zone receiver who makes impossible touchdown catches. That’s why Washington general managericon1.png Scot McCloughan broke from expectations of selecting defensive line help to take Doctson with the 22nd overall selection.

Maybe Doctson won’t be the team’s leading receiver this fall, but he can do something the Redskins haven’t regularly seen since Gary Clark scored 10 touchdowns in 1991. As DeSean Jackson stretches the field, Doctson stretches the red zone where Washington has too often failed over recent years. …
