TCU fans have enjoyed a methodical climb to the top of college football the last ten seasons. Â Now as a firmly established national power on the field, recruiting is beginning to reach another level. Â There is no better symbol of the rise of TCU recruiting than the recent offer extended to Malcolm Askew.
The McCalla, Alabama native holds offers from Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Ole Miss, Georgia, LSU and Oklahoma- just to name a few. Â Yet, when TCU recently offered, Askew was grateful and curious. Â Offered as a Safety, he plans to be an early enrollee. Â He also plans for TCU to be one of his official visits.
WHAT DOES THE TCU OFFER MEAN TO YOU?
It means a lot, every offer means the world to me, they are a wonderful program. Â TCU has had a lot of success on the field, competing at a high level. Â They have no DBs committed right now…and that intrigues me because I could get this class going.
WHAT TCU COACHES HAVE BEEN RECRUITING YOU?
I’ve contacted with Coach Gonzales. Â He’s telling me they want me at safety and I could come in and play immediately since I’ll be a mid year guy. Â If I come in take care of business then that opportunity to start as a true freshman is mine to take!
BEING FROM ALABAMA WITH AN OFFER FROM THE TIDE, WHERE DOES TCU STAND?
It’s common for a kid highly recruited to be trending toward Alabama if you’re from this state. Â I mean they are the top dawg on college football. Â But I’m the type of person “why not be different?” Â Everybody wants to go to Alabama why not go somewhere else and beat Alabama? Â But they stand pretty high with me I’m definitely considering taking an official to TCU and continue to build great relationships with the coaches.
