GoFrogs: Ramirez to Compete for USA Basketball 3-on-3 Spot

Incoming TCU freshman is a McDonald’s All-American

FORT WORTH, Texas — Incoming TCU women’s basketball freshman and McDonald’s All-American Amber Ramirez is headed to Colorado Springs Wednesday, where she will look to represent the United States in international competition by earning a spot on a USA Basketball 3-on-3 National Team.

The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) first introduced 3-on-3 basketball as a sanctioned sport at the 2010 Youth Olympic Games in Singapore. Since then, 3-on-3 has grown internationally to include U18 World Championships and World Championships at the Open (adult) division.

“I’m extremely blessed to have this opportunity,” Ramirez said. “It’s an honor to represent TCU and compete for a spot to hopefully represent my country as well. I love telling people that I’m going to TCU. It’s also exciting that people can say I’m headed to TCU, especially with all the great names coming out of here.”

A San Antonio native, Ramirez will also be in Colorado Springs at the end of May for the U18 National Team Trials.
