This is the first in an occasional series that will follow a player’s journey through the NFL draft process.
Derrick Kindred was frothing to begin his senior season as a TCU Horned Frog on the final Sunday of August, when he dived for a loose ball at an otherwise benign practice four days shy of the opening game at Minnesota.
Kindred is a little foggy about what happened next, but he distinctly remembers hearing what he believed was a bone-crunching crack.
Chad Glasgow, TCU’s co-defensive coordinator and Kindred’s position coach, had a better view and has a clearer recall of what left his star safety writhing on the field. …
