DMN: Kenny Hill imitated other QBs for TCU scout team; can he be player he once was at A&M?

FORT WORTH — Sitting out last season as a transfer at TCU, Kenny Hill made the most of quarterbacking the scout team in practice.
One week he was SMU’s Matt Davis, his old teammate at Texas A&M. Another week Hill did his best imitation of Texas Tech’s Patrick Mahomes, a longtime buddy. He walked into coach Gary Patterson’s office confidently, saying, “I can play Matt Davis. I can play Pat. I know them.”
The question now is can he play Kenny Hill, the big-time quarterback out of Southlake Carroll with all the tools who briefly looked like a Heisman candidate at A&M in 2014.
“I think I can,” Hill said after a recent TCU practice. “That’s easier. I can just be me.”
TCU can only hope that Hill transforms into his old self. Going into Friday’s spring game, he is locked in a competition with holdover sophomore Foster Sawyer for the starting quarterback job. …
