DMN: Despite his talent, it’s easy for TCU receiver Doctson to keep his ego in check; here’s why

FORT WORTH — For TCU receiver Josh Doctson, it’s still easy to remember just a couple of years ago, when the NFL draft seemed like a long shot.

On Thursday morning, the transfer and former walk-on ran routes and caught passes from Horned Frogs quarterback Trevone Boykin in front of representatives from all 32 NFL teams at TCU’s pro day. He’s projected in most mock drafts as a late first-rounder.

“One drop,” Doctson said of his day at the Sam Baugh Indoor Practice Facility. “But it was a good overall day, not just for myself, but to be out here with my teammates one last time.”

The performance followed the NFL combine in February, when he drew positive reviews and appeared to put behind him questions about a surgically repaired broken left wrist that cut short his senior season by three games. …
