Waco Tribune-Herald: Too close for comfort: Lady Bears withstand Frogs’ late surge, 81-75
FORT WORTH — One quarter can derail the entire outlook of a basketball game. Especially when it’s the final quarter.
All seemed to be going according to plan as the third-quarter buzzer sounded Wednesday at Schollmaier Arena. The fourth-ranked Baylor women led TCU by 25 points and appeared to be headed on a smooth ride to their 11th straight win.
They got that win, but it didn’t come without a fourth-quarter scare. The Horned Frogs roared back to score 37 points in the period and tighten the game to a six-point battle before the Lady Bears ducked out with an 81-75 win.
Baylor (24-1, 11-1) was outscored 37-18 in the quarter, as TCU (12-11, 4-8) hit five 3-pointers and drained 69 percent of their shots to turn a lopsided affair into a dogfight late in the game. …
